New Apostolic Church Hands over borehole to the community

Three months after Chilanga church was dedicated by District Apostle Charles Ndandula, the New Apostolic Church handed over a borehole to the community in Chilanga area.

On Saturday 31 July, 2010 the area Apostle, Michael Milupi, officially handed over the borehole to the community in Chilanga on behalf of the church.

In the year 2005 the government had placed a borehole in the church plot through the area Member of Parliament, then Honourable Ng'andu Magande, using the constituency development funds. Later, the church decided to give back to the community by sinking another borehole about 2 kilometers away from the church. The borehole sunk by the government in the church plot was considered to be in private premises and as such the community could not easily access the water. This was done after completion and dedication of the new church building.

Mr. Muyanga Nyirenda (a Chilanga resident who lives near the area) was at hand to receive the borehole on behalf of the community and he thanked the church for the gesture shown to the community. He urged the community to guard the borehole jealously as there was a tendency of vandalism. He also said he was happy that the church had kept its promise and thought of the lives of the people in the community, as water is life.

The apostle, in his final remarks, urged the community to take care of the borehole, as the church may not be able to repair and mainten the borehole.
