Apostles and Bishops meet in Lusaka

During the weekend of January 22 -23, 2011, Lusaka was a hive of activities in the New Apostolic church in Zambia.

19 Apostles and 13 Bishops of Zambia met in Lusaka for the introduction of catechism briefing seminar which was held  at Lima Garden Guest  House on Saturday, January 22, 2011. This was facilitated by Bishop Conrad Masheke and District Elder Malinda Malinda who had travelled to Hanover, Germany for the training on catechism.

In the evening, after the seminar, Lusaka City Elder District hosted the “Meet the Apostles and Bishops” dinner at Mulungushi International Conference Centre. This was a fundraising dinner for the construction of Olympia Park and Thorn Park Churches in Lusaka.

At the dinner there was an auction for various items including Chief Apostle Leber, District Apostles Andrew Fernandes, Charles Ndandula, and Duncan Mfune and District Apostle Helpers Arnold Mhango and Robert Nsamba’s framed portraits. The dinner was a success, raising a total amount of K151,000,000.00, with the Chief Apostle’s framed portrait auctioned for K27,000,000.00 and District Apostle Ndandula’s suit auctioned for K1,500,000.00.

The climax of the programme was the divine service at Fairview congregation conducted by the District Apostle, where all the Apostles and Bishops of Zambia, except for Apostles Moses Mulopo and Aubrey Mwanza who could not attend on account of ill health, were present.

875 members and 34 visitors attended the service in which the District Apostle read a text word from Mark 1:19-20:

When he had gone a little further from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother who also were in the boat mending their nets. And immediately He called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants and went after him.”

The District Apostle emphasized on following the Lord Jesus Christ without excuses. He gave a practical example of the two brothers who followed the Lord and left their father without questioning the Lord.

On Monday, January 24, 2011 all the Apostles and Bishops left for their various destinations.
