The New Apostolic church joined the nation in mourning the second Republican President Dr Frederick Titus Jacob Chiluba who died on June 18, 2011 in Lusaka. At the time of the death of Dr Chiluba, District Apostle Charles Ndandula was on a programme to North Western Province. Despite his busy schedule, on Saturday, June 25, 2011 the District Apostle travelling back from Mufumbwe, he stopped over in Solwezi, to sign a book of condolences at the Provincial Administration Office. He was accompanied by Apostles David Seulu, Richard Kasoma, Kububa Soko and Ignatius Luneta and Bishop Shem Samalela. The District Apostle said he was very touched by the death of Dr Chiluba, especially that they were next-door neighbours in Kabulonga residence. In Lusaka, the District Apostle Helper Robert Nsamba, accompanied by Apostles Stanley Munsaka, Michael Milupi and Donald Kalyangu and some members of staff from the Church Office, visited the funeral venue which was Belvedere Lodge in Kabulonga, on Friday June 24, 2011 where he and the apostles signed the book of condolences. According to the programme set by the government during the mourning period, the churches in Lusaka were invited to participate in singing at Lusaka Show grounds where different denominations rendered solemn songs for two days. The New Apostolic church choir had participated in this programme on Saturday, June, 25, 2011 and the programme began at 10:00 hours with a prayer by Apostle Munsaka. The District Apostle Helper Joined later when the Choir from Lusaka West apostle area sang. District Apostle Helper gave word of comfort when he said that we should recognize and accept that God gives and He takes. We should be thankful for what he gave us. He quoted what Apostle Paul said that death is a profit because it does not separate us from God but allows us to meet with him. The programme ended with a prayer by Apostle Milupi. On Sunday June 26, 2011, the District Apostle travelled back to Lusaka immediately after the divine service in Chingola so that he could attend the burial of the late Dr Chiluba. |
