CHILDREN’S DAY WITH THE DISTRICT APOSTLE
|
The weekend of 20 to 21 February, 2010 was special for the children in Lusaka East apostle area as they had the District Apostle dedicate his time to be with them for the Day of the child celebrations. The sports activities were held at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) which served as the venue. This was the first time for the children in that area to spend the weekend with the District Apostle who was accompanied by District Apostle Helper Robert Nsamba and area Apostle Michael Milupi. Over 1,000 children gathered at the NASDEC hall on a rainy morning of Saturday, 21 February, 2010. Although some children travelled as far as from Nampundwe which is about 90 kilometres west of Lusaka and arrived late for the activities, this did not dampen their jovial mood as it was a great joy for them to have the District Apostle in their midst. The children participated in various sports activities such tug of war, picking an orange in a bucket of water and a dressing competition called ‘dress the District Apostle’ where the child that dressed first in a black suit emerged the winner. Burma District emerged the overall winners of the activities. The following day on Sunday 21 February, 2010 was the climax of the weekend when the District Apostle conducted a service for the children in Woodlands congregation. It was a special day as the excited children listened attentively. District Apostle Ndandula read a text word from Ephesians 3:17-18: “…that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saint what is the width and length and depth and height.” During the sermon, he encouraged the children to continue having faith in the Lord and above all respect their parents. 1,039 children and 21 visitors attended the service. |
