Chief Apostle Leber arrives at Lusaka International Airport on 28 October 2010

After months of expectation and anxiety, on Thursday, 28 October 2010, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber arrived at Lusaka International Airport at 13:00 hours.

He was accompanied by District Apostles Armin Brinkmann of Germany, Urs Hebeisen of Philippines, Johnann Kitching and  Noel Barnes from South Africa, Andrew  Andersen of Australia and Leonard Kolb from North America.

District Apostle Charles Ndandula and the District Apostle Helper Robert Nsamba and three Apostles from within Lusaka namely Stanley Munsaka, Michael Milupi and Akombaetwa Samalama, were at hand to receive the Chief Apostle and his entourage.

Excited members, including airport workers thronged the airport to have a glimpse of the Chief Apostle and his wife, Barbara, who accompanied him on this programme to Zambia and all the District Apostles and their spouses.

Friday, 29 October 2010 was a hive of activities as the Chief Apostle and all the visiting District Apostles visited Munda Wanga Botanical Gardens and Zoo in Chilanga to see some of Zambia’s wildlife and plants.

Meanwhile at the same time, Sister Leber and the wives of the visiting District Apostles had a fellowship with local sisters at Woodlands Church. At the fellowship, the local sisters exhibited some agricultural products such as vegetables and a variety of other crops. This is a food security project being undertaken by sisters with the sponsorship of Henwood Foundation (HF), an arm of the New Apostolic Church founded in 2003. Sister Leber and her entourage were also shown a knitting shop which local sisters established as a fundraising venture for sisters’ fellowship activities.

Sister Leber and her entourage were also entertained by the sisters who rendered a variety of songs while Sunday school children recited some poems.

In the afternoon, the Chief Apostle attended a choral concert organized by the youths at Chelstone  main church.

On arrival at the newly-constructed Chelstone Church, the Chief Apostle was welcomed by children dressed in colours of the Zambian flag.

It was a thrilling moment as the youth choir rendered both traditional and spiritual pieces of music for one and half hours. In his closing remarks, the Chief Apostle said the music of the Zambian New Apostolic Church choir has always touched his soul and uplifted the spirits of those in attendance.

During his tight five day programme, Chief Apostle Leber and his entourage flew to the Copperbelt Province town of Kitwe, some 456 kilometres from the capital city of Zambia on Saturday, October 30, 2010.

He conducted the first festive divine service in Kitwe Central Church that was attended by 5,900 members including 30 guests.

The Chief Apostle read a text word from Galatians 6 : 7:

“Whatever a man sows, that he will reap.”

After the service, members and invited guests had a rare opportunity to have fellowship with the Chief Apostle at Hotel Edinburgh, in Kitwe.

The climax of the Chief Apostle’s visit to Zambia was Sunday, October 31, 2010 when he conducted a festive divine service in Lusaka Central Church where he ordained five (5) apostles, two (2) for Zambia, two (2) for South East Africa and one (1) for the Cape district and eight (8) bishops, three (3) for Zambia and five (5) for South East Africa district.

Apostle Akombaetwa Samalama was also placed into retirement during this service.

The service was attended by 5,673 members.

The text word was taken from Matthew 12 : 30:

“He who is not for Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”

The Chief Apostle also bestowed the golden marriage blessing (50 years) on retired District Apostle Duncan Mfune and his dear wife, Fides.

The service was transmitted live on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) TV and Radio 2 throughout the country as well as some selected areas in Malawi and Zimbabwe (which are part of the Zambia district).

After the service, over 500 members and invited guests had a rare opportunity to fellowship with the Chief Apostle at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC).

On Monday, 1 November 2010 the Chief Apostle and his entourage travelled back.
