Funeral Service For Late Apostle Maimbolwa

Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral of the late Retired Apostle Maxwell Sikwibele Maimbolwa in Lusaka.

Apostle Maimbolwa 83, died on 20 November, 2011 in the Lusaka Trust Hospital after a short illness. He is survived by a wife Margaret, 9 children, 14 grand children and 7 great grand children.

The late Apostle was baptized in 1955 in Luampa, Kaoma, and sealed and ordained Deacon by Apostle George Henwood Mkandawire on 20 September 1956.

He subsequently received the following ministries in the church:

  • Priest: 23 September 1958 by District Apostle Hubert H. Fernandes

  • Community Evangelist: 11 October 1968 by District Apostle Hubert H. Fernandes

  • Shepherd: 8 February 1970 by Apostle Andrew J. Fernandes

  • District Evangelist: 28 June 1975 by District Apostle Andrew J. Fernandes

  • Bishop: 26 August 1979 by Chief Apostle Hans Urwyler

  • Apostle: 16 November 1980 by Chief Apostle Hans Urwyler

He was put into retirement on 21 September 1997 by Chief Apostle Richard Fehr in Lusaka.

As an Apostle he served in Western province and Lusaka Areas.

The funeral service was conducted by District Apostle Charles Ndandula in the Lusaka Central Church on 23 November 2011. He comforted the over 700 mourners comprising of church members and guests with a text word from Hebrews 11:10:

“For he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”

The District Apostle described the late Apostle as a friend to all despite the age difference. He also said Apostle Maimbolwa was a thankful person who many times visited the District Apostle’s office just to say “thank you”.

He also mentioned that if we, the living and mourning, were permitted to see the joy awaiting the late Apostle Maimbolwa in the realm of the redeemed, we would not mourn at all but we would instead wish to join this realm as soon as possible. For there is no sorrow or pain there which is prevalent here on this earth!

District Apostle Helper Robert Nsamba and Apostle Stanley Munsaka were called to serve during the funeral service, and they expressed the character of the late Apostle as being kind, loving and God fearing.

While in active ministry the Apostle also worked at the Church Administration Office in the Statistics department from 1980 to 1998.

After the service the funeral procession then proceeded to Lusaka Memorial Park for burial.
